OXFORD United suffered a 6-0 defeat to a strong Manchester City side in the FA Women’s Super League Continental Cup.

The hosts made their opponents, who fielded England internationals Steph Houghton, Jill Scott and Narisa Parris, work hard in the first half in front of a bumper crowd of 777 at Court Place Farm.

But two quick goals saw the floodgates open and the FA Women's Super League 2 side were convincingly beaten.

After being kept at bay for almost 45 minutes, City headed into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Izzy Christiansen broke the deadlock fromt the penalty spot after Ellis Millman fouled Parris.

And City doubled their lead immediately as Georgia Stanway drove past goalkeeper Demi Lambourne.

The visitors continued to dominate after the break, with Scott forcing Lambourne into a decent save with a curling effort from the edge of the area.

A third goal soon arrived, when Stanway slammed in her second, before Claire Emslie fired into the bottom corner after Megan Campbell's long throw.

The same tactic led to further goals in the final ten minutes as Jen Beattie and Jane Ross completed the scoring for City.
