OXFORD United will be keeping a close eye on their former striker Ini Umotong when they resume their FA Women’s Super League programme against Brighton at Marsh Lane tomorrow (2pm).

The 23-year-old, United’s top scorer last season, has hit the ground running since joining the Sussex club in the close season, with three goals in her first four games.

“It was tough to leave Oxford because I did enjoy my time,” said Umotong.

“But for my career projection, coming to Brighton was the right decision.

“I am excited to play against my old club, but it will be interesting against my old teammates and friends.”

United keeper Demi Lambourne said: “Obviously, it will be nice to see Ini again.

“She has been doing really well this season and has a few goals already. She will be a big threat.

“But I have had a bit of banter with her, and we are desperate not to let her score. That’s the plan, anyway.”

Oxford are unbeaten after three games – a remarkable turnaround from the Spring Series when they finished bottom of the pile.

Both United and Brighton are in a tightly-bunched group near the top.

The sides drew 1-1 in the Spring Series – their only previous meeting.
