OXFORD Hawks were in sparkling form as they routed Milton Keynes 7-0 in South League Premier Division 1.

The hosts expected the usual dogfight from their near neighbours, but it proved to be a one-sided contest against Milton Keynes, who are rooted to the bottom of the table.

First-half goals from Ted Bennett, Ben Gregory and Andy Watts cruise clear, the goal from Gregory the result of a slick passing move and fine finish.

The second half saw a similar pattern, with further goals from Bennett, Gregory and Watts.

Will Heywood completed the rout with a fine individual effort which was finished off with a skilful lob over the advancing keeper.

Hawks keeper Chris Price dealt with a couple of penalty corners deep into the second half, which were the visitors’ only real threat.

The club are beginning to play the sort of hockey demanded by coach Todd Williams, although sterner tests lie ahead.

Oxford beat Marlow 4-1 at home to stay top of Regional Division 1.

The hosts took the lead through a neat deflection by Sean Cox, but Marlow levelled before half-time.

In the second half, two early goals by Simon Culmer forced Marlow to press high up the pitch and a late counter-attacking goal by Sean Cox completed the scoring.

Witney had to settle for a 1-1 draw away to Marlow 2nd in Regional Division 2.

The hosts took an interval lead, but Dan Wallis equalised with a cracking shot high into the net.

Wallis looked to have sealed an away victory with a power slap, but the effort was disallowed.

Abingdon suffered their first defeat of the season in Middlesex BB&O Division 2 when losing 3-2 away to Windsor.

The visitors always chasing the game after going behind early on.

Will Trigg and Luke Casey both scored.

But Abingdon, who stay fourth in the table, were unable to rescue a point.O
