KIDLINGTON came from behind to beat ten-man North Leigh 2-1 in a well-contested West Division derby at Yarnton Road – their first home league win of the season.

The visitors adapted better to the windy conditions and took the lead after only five minutes, when Connor Waldon headed home George Seacole’s deep cross.

The hosts gradually began to find their feet, with both Lance Williams and Lewis Coyle going close to levelling the scores.

Eventually, Kidlington built up a head of steam and scored twice in five minutes midway through the first half.

In the 28th minute, Lewis Gabbidon equalised at the second attempt after his initial shot had been blocked.

Shortly afterwards, the Greens took the lead when Williams rifled a shot home from the edge of the box.

With the wind at their backs in the second half, the hosts set up several good positions but were let down by poor final balls.

The Millers’s cause was not helped when Josh Thomas was sent off for a poor challenge on Ryan Wharton.

After this incident Kidlington pushed on for more goals, but came up against a spectacular performance from visiting keeper Manny Agboola.

He virtually single-handedly kept his side in the contest with terrific saves from Coyle, Tommy Franklin and Williams.

Although Kidlington had the plucky Millers pinned back in their own half for long periods, they could not find that third goal to ease the tension, but ultimately it did not matter.
