PHIL McFarland was in top form when leading Berinsfield Club to a shock 4-2 victory at home to Donnington in the Oxford & District League, writes PETE EWINS.
McFarland scored 9,240 against the league’s men’s singles champion Ian Moquet to put the Division 1 hosts ahead, before Sue Atkins replied for the Premier outfit.
Geoff Mace then took another scalp defeating Dave Tooke, while John Boal put Berinsfield 3-1 up, before the pairs were shared.
Berinsfield are joint-leaders with West Oxford Democrats Club, who drew 3-3 draw away to Vikings B.
Jon-Joe Kelly and Vinnie Brown put Vikings 2-0 in front, before John Patey and Billy Hill levelled. The pairs were shared.
Alan Lowe and Dave Rose helped Masons Arms to a 4-2 home victory over Gladiators Club A.
Premier leaders Oracle won 6-0 at Gladiators B.
Vikings A crashed 4-2 away to Division 2 side Headington Conservative Club.
Keith Hollis top-scored for the hosts with 6,760, while Alan Oliver (6,610) shone for Vikings.
