ROB Hall believes Oxford United will discover this week exactly where they fit into the Sky Bet League One promotion race.

The winger has been sidelined with a groin injury as Pep Clotet’s side have won three successive games.

But he is hoping to be passed fit for the start of a Kassam Stadium double-header tonight, against Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks sit fifth, one place above the U’s in the table, while fourth-placed Rotherham United visit on Saturday.

Hall played under Charlton boss Karl Robinson when they were at MK Dons and is relishing the prospect of returning for such a big clash, providing he passes a late fitness test.

He said: “It will be hard, but it’s a challenge I’d look forward to if I’m fit and ready.

“It’s two big games and they will show us whereabouts we are as a team, depending on the results and performances.

“Charlton will have a good style. I’ve not watched them this year but I know what their manager’s like.

“We do expect them to come here and play their way. We will do the same, the boys are confident, so it’s one where whoever plays their game will take the points.

“He knows my game inside-out, so if I do play he will have someone watching me.”

Hall is a potential replacement for Joe Rothwell, whose fifth booking of the season during Saturday’s 1-0 win at Bristol Rovers triggered a one-game suspension.

Striker Jon Obika could also make the squad after recovering from a groin problem, but it is too soon for Dwight Tiendalli and Gino van Kessel.

James Roberts has benefited from Obika’s absence and made his first league appearance for United in 18 months as a late substitute against Rovers.

He said: “It’s a massive week for the team and everyone’s got to be ready.

“To be sure, we will be ready.”

While it looks a tricky run on paper, for Clotet the timing is perfect with his side on song.

He said: “We are coming from a very good game, so whatever happens this week the team is full of confidence and spirit.

“It’s the best time to get these kind of challenges.”

The visitors could have Mark Marshall back in the squad tonight after the winger missed Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Doncaster Rovers with a minor thigh problem.
