FELIPE Barcelos scored on his debut as Didcot Town won 2-0 at promotion hopefuls Evesham Town in the Evo-Stik South League West Division.

The former Oxford City and Banbury United striker, who signed in midweek from Cirencester Town, struck the second goal in a match that also saw the return of Michael Alexis to the Didcot ranks.

The visitors scored in the tenth minute, Stuart Cattell’s powerful header beating Evesham keeper Kevin Sawyer.

Despite pressing forward, the hosts’ front line were unable to test keeper Leigh Bedwell.

Didcot were dealt a blow before half-time when Alexis had to come off with a hamstring injury.

They should have extended their advantage as George Reid was tripped up Leroy Odiero in the box. But Reid saw his penalty well saved by Sawyer.

The visitors clinched the result in the 75th minute through Barcelos’s brilliant finish.

North Leigh drew 1-1 at Wimborne Town, seven days after losing 3-1 to their Dorset opponents in the Buildbase FA Trophy.

In the first half, George Seacole shot just wide for the Millers, while Sam Mendes saw his free-kick tipped round a post by home keeper Gerald Benfield.

Wimborne took the lead in the 39th minute when North Leigh defender Elliott Keightley brought down winger Jack Lovell in the area, and Tobias Holmes made no mistake from the spot.

It looked like getting even worse for the Millers early in the second half when they conceded another penalty after a foul by Dan James on Holmes.

However, this time, keeper Manny Agboola leapt to his left to make a great save from Holmes.

This was the turning point, and Mendes equalised in the 63rd minute when his 20-yard free-kick beat Benfield at his near post.

Kidlington recovered from a first-half battering to secure a 1-1 draw away to Larkhall Athletic.

The hosts’ tricky winger Cory Simpson and central striker George King gave the Greens a torrid time, but some fine saves by keeper Sam Warrell kept it 0-0 at the break.

After a half-time reshuffle from boss Julian McCalmon, Kidlington improved and took the lead in the 69th minute when Darius Browne blasted home from Lance Williams’s cross.

Ten minutes later, Larkhall levelled through a penalty, after Tommy Castle brought down King. Joe Tummelty netted from the spot.

Two goals from Dan West could not prevent Thame Town losing 4-2 at Cambridge City in the East Division.

West put the visitors ahead after 11 minutes, but they trailed 3-2, as Jordan Gent, Ryan Sharman and Ross Paterson scored for the hosts. West netted his second just before the break.

Lewis Wilson’s second-half strike sealed the result.
