LONG Wittenham moved top of Group A of the North Berks Charity Shield after a rousing 5-1 win against visitors North Oxford, writes RICHARD UNDERWOOD.

Arran Colley led the way with a brace, while Sam Sheppard, Sam Borland and Kieron Cooper were also on target.

Merhawi Haile hit back for North Oxford.

Watlington came away from East Hendred with a 2-1 victory.

Ben Little and Ashley Dixon scored for the visitors, with Mike Farrelly replying.

In Group C, Steventon suffered a 9-0 mauling by Westminster.

Andy Younie led the rout with a hat-trick, while Tom Srawley added a brace.

Further goals came from Seb Hickey, Max Waterson, Mike Hooton and Luke Lewis-Rippington.

Saxton Rovers extended their winning run in Group D with a 7-0 win at Stanford-in-the-Vale.

Tom Stanley slammed a treble, with Dan Parry, Niall Hodgkins, Joe Pratley and Louis Bloomfield also finding the target.

Division 3 leaders Cholsey United were knocked out of the North Berks League Cup in the first round, losing 3-2 to Division 4 side Cumnor Minors Under 21.

Steve Hawes and Wayne Mangan scored for Cholsey, but strikes from Ben Branton, Cameron Pomroy and Jordan Howe put Cumnor through, Cholsey having keeper Matthew Leech sent off in extra time.

In league action, Berinsfield moved up to second in Division 1 with a thumping 6-0 victory at Lambourn Sports.

Mark Ingram was the star of the show with a four-timer, which included three penalties.

Max Palmer and Josh Rough were also on target.

In Division 2, Blewbury hammered Crowmarsh 8-2.

John Willis hit a hat-trick, with Jason McCabe, Warren McCabe, Chris Crickmore and Bryn Ingram also on the mark.

Scott Gesner replied with a brace for Crowmarsh.

Watlington Town moved up to second in Division 4 with an 8-0 mauling of visitors Steventon Res.

Adam Butler led the rout with a treble, while Ryan Jesson, Tom Andrews, Fraser Wilson, Gary Deighton and Darren Outten were also on target.
