TONY Hobbs won the Barney Barrington Memorial Match fished by a large turn-out of 63 anglers on the Thames at Reading and District’s Child Beale venue.
The Drennan Oxford matchman had an all-roach net of 19lb 2oz 0drms at 13m on the pole and caster over groundbait.
Clubmate Ian Young was runner-up with 14,7.0, while another Drennan Oxford member John Williams (12.2.0) was third.
Tim Allen gained his first ever victory on the Thames at Sandford, when he won Littlemore AS’s Prior Cup Qualifier/Roach Cup.
He caught 14.8.0 of quality roach and perch to finish clear of runner-up Peter Clarke, who had a mixed net for 12.13.0.
Alan Campbell, who was third on 11.0.0, took the Roach Cup with 9.12.0.
Jamie Godfrey claimed a hat-trick of victories, when Yarnton and District AC fished the second round of their Winter League on Thames at Yarnton Meadow.
Drawn on the favoured peg 1, Godfrey landed 9.0.0 of roach to win the trophy.
He also had the top overall net of 11.13.0, and walked away with the golden peg.
Ernie Smith came second with 6.07 of roach for a total of 7.08, while Pete Oliver was third with 3.10.
Martin Wilkinson triumphed in both Beehive AC’s SP Courier and UEFA Cups, fished on Lower Court.
Wilkinson had 53.4.0 of carp to pole and meat to beat off the challenge of runner-up Bob Hopgood (41.10.0) and third-paced Dale Keeping (30.5.0).
