AGON Mehmeti could be included in the Oxford United squad for the first time this weekend after impressing in a training game this week.

The 27-year-old striker joined the U's a fortnight ago, but manager Pep Clotet has sought to ease him in gently.

That process is nearly complete and Mehmeti played a full part in United's camp at Gibraltar Barracks this week.

It included a training game against the team from the military base, where the former Malmo marksman was quick to make an impression.

And Clotet could now include him in the squad for Walsall's visit to the Kassam Stadium in Sky Bet League One on Saturday.

He said: "It’s getting to the final stages on his fitness programme.

"He played against the Engineers for 30 minutes and scored some goals, so it’s getting closer."
