KIDLINGTON Green Social Club are celebrating after being crowned the Greene King ODDA Summer League’s Premier Section champions.
They achieved their success with a narrow 5-4 success over Section 1 champions Cowley Workers Club.
Wins from Joe Palmer and Neal Russell, both of whom hit 180s, put Kidlington 2-0 ahead, but Cowley levelled through Aaran Stevens (180) and Darren Allen.
Maximum men Sean Holley, who is still unbeaten, and Terry Wood restored Kidlington’s two-leg lead and they hung on for victory despite losing the pairs 2-1.
Prince of Wales clinched the Section 2 title with an 8-1 win at home to Chequers Inn A.
Bullnose Morris are the Section 4 champions, while Gladiators SC need just four points from their last match to claim the runners-up spot.
In Section 5, Masons Arms need six points from their final game to pip Florence Park CC for the title.
Golden Ball made it nine wins out of nine with a 7-2 success at New Club to collect the Section 6 crown.
Florence Park CC A retained the Ladies’ Premier Section title with a 7-2 success over Section 1 side Blackbird Bar – their 13th win in as many matches.
Park’s B team are Section 2 champions after a 7-2 success at Six Bells.
Long-time Section 5 leaders Kings Arms came from 3-0 and 4-2 down to defeat visitors New Club A and stay six points clear of their nearest challengers Florence Park CC D, who lost 6-3 at Cowley Workers D.
