GLADIATORS A made history when winning the Premier Section for the first time after beating Black Prince 3-0 in the Greene King Oxford & District League.

Andy Beal clanged off 14 (5-5-4) for the newly-crowned champions, ably supported by Kevin Baker’s 13 (4-4-5) in the 29-24, 28-24, 27-19 victory.

Ken Maunder was in superb form, hitting 17 (5-6-6) as Garsington Sports A beat Swan B 2-1, with leg scores of 28-27, 31-16, 28-29, denting their opponents Section 1 title hopes.

Maunder’s only miss came on his fourth throw in the first leg.

Woodman opened up a one-point gap, when recording a 28-21, 27-20, 30-18 win at home to Red Lion A Yarnton.

Mark Rollins led the way with 13 (5-4-4).

Three Pigeons came away from New Club A with a 2-1 win, thanks to Neil Lyon’s 14-doll haul (4-4-6).

They lost the first 23-24, before triumphing 28-20, 24-22.

Three teams are in contention for the Section 2 title.

Six Bells E Kidlington lead after a 3-0 win over Six Bells A Quarry.

Bullnose Morris A moved level second after overcoming Six Bells D Kidlington 2-1.

They share that spot with Chequers C, who beat Crown 2-1.

Section 3 leaders Garsington Sports B earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory at White House.

The hosts took the first leg on three sticks after it was tied 18-18.

But Garsington clinched the next two 19-13, 20-18 to open up a one-point lead.

Chequers A stay hot on their tail, but dropped a point at home to Blackbird in a 19-18, 22-15, 18-20 win.

Brian Reidy threw well for Blackbird, hitting 13 (4-4-5).

Simon Jones clanged off 14 (5-5-4) as King & Queen beat Vikings B 20-18, 21-19, 19-20.

New Club B’s title dreams are fading away after they dropped a point at Queens Head, for whom Kevin Henwood hit 14 (4-5-5).

The Clubmen took the decider 20-19, after they won the first 24-16, but lost the second on three sticks after it finished 17-17.

Donnington Club C need a point to claim the Section 4 title after beating Democrats Club A 3-0.

Littlemore British Legion A are ready to pounce should Donnington falter, but they dropped a point in beating George B 20-15, 17-19, 20-16.

Steve Jessup starred with 13 (5-3-5) for the Legion.

The top two clashed in Section 5 and Bullnose Morris B beat leaders Seacourt Bridge A 3-0.

Masons Arms B’s challenge is almost over after losing 2-1 at Cricketers A.

In Section 6, Black Horse B scored more dolls than visitors Donnington Club B, but still lost 2-1.

They shared the first two legs 14-18, 21-15, before the third was decided on three sticks after it was tied 18-18.

Rod Wilkins clanged off ten (4-3-3), but was on the losing side as White Hart A Wolvercote beat Northway Club A 2-1 in a thriller with leg scores of 15-14, 14-15, 16-14.

Jack Wells bagged a six in his 11-doll haul (2-3-6) as Vikings Sports C saw off Green Road Club A 2-1.

Vikings won the first on three sticks after a 13-13 tie and took the second 15-11.

Wells clanged off all six to tie the third, but Green Road took it on three sticks.

Red Lion B landed the Section 7 title when beating Cricketers 3-0 – the last leg being a three-stick shoot-out.

Michael Ashburner top-scored with 11 (3-4-4) as Catherine Wheel B beat Kidlington Sports Club 2-1.

All outstanding games must be played by Tuesday, September 5.

Any played after this date will be void.
