DICK Walsh bucked the trend on a wild and windy night to help Swan A knock New Club A off the top of the Premier Section in the Greene King Oxford & District League, writes ANDY BEAL.

With numerous low scores, in the league, Walsh clanged of 14 dolls (3-5-6) to help Swan come from behind to win

18-19, 27-18, 28-20.

Gladiators A are the new leaders after winning 3-0 at Woodman.

The visitors set 23 in the opening leg, while Woodman replied with 11 – a record low for the top flight – and that included the three-doll handicap.

It was much closer in the next two legs, Gladiators winning 19-17, 19-18.

Three Pigeons took advantage of Woodman’s slip-up to go top of Section 1 by defeating Garsington Sports Club A 20-16, 20-19, 29-23.

Black Prince came away from George A with a hard-fought 2-1 win thanks to 13 dolls (3-4-6) from Graham Wilsden.

Prince triumphed 20-22,

29-22, 30-29.

There was a shock in Section 2 as bottom club Viking Sports Club A defeated leaders Bullnose Morris A 2-1, taking the last leg 20-17.

The new leaders are Six Bells E Kidlington, who whitewashed hosts Donnington A 17-15, 17-13, 17-12.

Geoff Townsend led the way with 13 dolls as Chequers C defeated Six Bells A 20-17, 19-12, 21-18.

Chequers A moved three points clear in Section 3 after defeating visitors Tiddington Cricket Club 14-7, 21-13,

19-17.

There was a 14-doll haul from Steve Jessup, whose tally of 4-6-4 led Littlemore British Legion A to a 3-0 victory away to Democrats A in Section 4.

Leaders Donnington C won their top-of-the-table battle at home to Masons Arms A

14-10, 16-14, 16-13.

In Section 5, Joe Bandrowski bagged himself a six in his 14-doll haul for Masons B, who beat Cricketers Arms Littleworth 16-10, 20-17, 18-13.

Mick Fitchett hit his first outside six for Red Lion Marston in their 3-0 win at Cricketers A Cowley.

Lion set 14 and ten in the first two legs. In reply, Cricketers’ anchor man Gareth Williams needed two to win but blobbed in both legs. Lion took the final leg 23-15.

Florence Park made it ten wins on the bounce in Section 6 with a 2-1 success at Black Horse B.

After losing the opening leg 15-14, they recovered well to take the next two 19-11, 14-7.

l TWO-TIME winner Liam Costar (Masons Arms) will face Max Dybalski (Catherine Wheel B) in the final of the league’s under 21 competition, following respective semi-final victories over Kieran Sellar and Dillon Cox.
