GARY Barclay was a clear winner of the Oxford Summer League, fished by seven teams of six on the Thames at Dorchester and Benson.

On a river with some flow after the recent rain, the Drennan Oxford Blue matchman caught four large bream, including one of 6lb 6oz 0drms, for a winning weight of 31.4.0 from the top end peg at Benson.

John Aldridge (Isis) was a distant second with 14.4.0, which included a chub and a bream, both weighing 5.0.0.

His clubmate Simon Duke was a close third with 13.9.0.

As a result, Isis won the match with 33 points, one ahead of both Drennan Oxford Yellow and Sensas A4.

Kidlington anglers filled the first three positions in the eighth round of the Oxford Carp League, sponsored by Ace Tackle and Bait.

The only angler to break the magical ton on Club Pool at Tunnel Barn Farm was Steve Johnson, who had 110.2.0 of carp and F1s.

Johnson, a regular visitor to the West Midlands venue, employed the method feeder before switching to pole and paste tactics.

Clubmate Craig Partridge was second with 94.2.0, closely followed by match organiser Gerry Foley on 92.14.0.

The last of the frame places was taken by the consistent Dave Hawkins (Didcot) with 89.14.0.

The match strengthened Partridge’s place at the top.

Jamie Pancott came out on top in the ninth round of Yarnton and District AC’s Summer League at Hunts Corner Pond on the Linear complex.

All 12 anglers caught silvers, but it was the odd few bigger fish that made the difference.

Pancott gained his first victory and picked up the golden peg with a haul of 22.4.0

Jamie Godfrey came second with 14.15.0 and Ernie Smith third on 9.4.0.

There was a roach bonanza, when 12 members of Littlemore AC fished the R Arnatt Cup on the Thames at Sandford.

Pete Clarke put together a super net of roach of 16.6.0 to take the £200 golden peg prize.

Brian Hutchings was second with 15.0.0 and Tim Allen third with 12.9.0.

North Oxford AS and Kidlington AS joined forces to contest the Scott Lyster Trophy on the Thames at Godstow.

Jason Bean (Kidlington) had roach, perch and bleak on maggot to head the field with 11.4.0 followed by Dave Scott-Picton (North Oxford) on 7.12.0. Alan Steele (Kidlington) was a close third with 7.11.0.

Marston FTB AC fished both of their latest matches on the Thames at Folly.

The three-hour midweek match was won by Pete Clarke, who had a bag of skimmers, roach and perch for 11.7.0.

Gordon Collier was second with 9.3.0 of roach and perch, while Antony Tomkins third with 8.9.0.

Only two pounds separated the top three on Sunday.

Steve Tomkins was top with a mixed bag of 11.3.0.

Graham Bradshaw was second with 10.9.0 and Gordon Collier third with 9.4.0.
