GREAT & Little Tew captain Harry Smith is looking forward to having the chance to complete the double over Oxfordshire rivals Banbury when the sides meet at Whitepost Road tomorrow.

The Home Counties Premier League was severely affected by last weekend’s wet weather.

But Smith has taken confidence from the time his side spent at the crease against Burnham.

And after beating Banbury by six wickets in May, the Tew captain is feeling upbeat.

He said: “It would be nice (to do the double), especially being Banbury.

“There will always be a rivalry there.

“They’ve been on a pretty good run themselves and will be up for it especially losing to us early on.”

Tew make two changes with Ollie Price and Andy Harris replacing Joe Thomas and Liam Manley.

Oxford host Tring Park hoping to not only get the better of their visitors, but also the weather.

John Barrett’s side have been left frustrated by the rain for the last two weeks.

Oxford name an unchanged XI to the side which recovered from a poor start to put on 87-2 against Slough, before the match was abandoned.

Barrett said: “Everyone’s raring yo go.

“We’ve had two rain-affected matches, so it will be nice to get a game in, but you never know, the weather is a bit up and down.

“We’re still feeling confident, we’ll still try to enjoy it and see where we get to.”

Horspath skipper Will Eason says his side’s victory over High Wycombe earlier this season will have little bearing on tomorrow’s clash in Buckinghamshire.

May’s five-wicket victory will give the Oxford Road-based club heart they can complete the double.

But Eason, who makes one change with Jamie Stead coming in for the unavailable Mark Jefferson, is taking a cautious approach.

He said: “We had a fantastic result against them at the beginning of the season, probably the best we’ve ever had in the Home Counties, so that’s something we were really proud of.

“We can use that as motivation, but we can’t look to much into it in terms of how it’s going to shape up this time.

“It was nine weeks ago and we will both have different players.”

TOMORROW’S TEAMS

CHARLIE BRAIN is fully aware victory over bottom side Reading tomorrow will go a long way to confirming Shipton-under-Wychwood’s Division 2 status.

The west Oxfordshire side sit 77 points above the relegation zone, with neither Great Brickhill or this weekend’s visitors in treble figures for the season.

Shipton could send Reading down from the Home Counties Premier League with victory, but skipper Brain will not be underestimating the Berkshire side.

He said: “It’s not like they have been hammered every week, they’re not being rolled over for 50. We still need to be wary.

“We’ve got to be confident of winning at home because they’ve not won a game yet.

“We’re not mathematically safe, but 80 points is a pretty good margin.

“So we should not be playing with too much fear, but we’ve got to play with respect.”

Shaun Miller, Joe Cockroft and Alex Goodge replace the unavailable Craig Wood, Ian Lewis and Tom Swann.

Thame Town make three changes for their trip to Great Brickhill.

Andy Russell, Adam Phippen and Richard Straughan are all unavailable from the team which started last week’s abandoned match at home to Amersham.

Jimmy Adams, Mike Higgs and Honey Garg, who has unable to play for the majority of the season due to family commitments, come into the side.

The latter has featured only twice this season and captain Michael Beard is thrilled to be able to pick the batsman.

He said: “He can’t play much this season, he has a new-born baby and is helping out.

“We signed him on and he said he would help us out if we needed it.

“He’s a great player and it’s good for the club to have him available.”

Leaders Aston Rowant host Buckingham Town.
