OXFORDSHIRE women twice recovered from poor starts to secure narrow wins over Devon and Cornwall in their ECB County Championship games at Bovey Tracey.

Against Devon, Oxon recovered from 37-6 to reach 104 all out, thanks to Emelia Bartram (25no) and Ellie Ingram (23).

Then Charlotte Noble (4-18) and Bartram (3-8) bowled superbly under pressure to restrict the hosts to 101-8 and secure a three-run win.

Ingram then scored 52, with support from Carla Wood (26) as Oxon posted 122-5 from 20 overs against Cornwall.

Rachael Potter took 1-11 from four overs and Carla Wood struck twice in one over to take 2-5 as Cornwall ended up on 98-6.

Oxon Under 17 Girls lost by 68 runs to Shropshire in their ECB County Championship game.

Miranda Edwards (4-28) and Jacqui Mayho (3-19) helped restrict the home side to 154-9 from their 45 overs.

Oxon never recovered from a poor start and were all out for 86, Sophie Mitchelmore top-scoring with 24.

Mitchelmore was also in form for Oxon in the Malvern Festival, where they won one of their three games.

She scored 49 and Kassia Astley 33 as Oxon made 174-8 from 42 overs against Devon, who fell 33 runs short.

Then Oxon lost twice to Yorkshire – first by 35 runs after their rivals scored 125.

In the next game, Oxon managed just 77 on the way to a six-wicket defeat.

Oxon Under 15 Girls lost by six wickets to Shropshire after scoring 101 in their County Championship match at Bicester.

Meanwhile Oxon Under 13s went down by 25 runs away to Berkshire.

In reply to Berkshire’s 137, Oxon made 112, opener Abi Norgove (28) and Amelie Trivedi (26) batting well.
