DEFENDING champions Kidlington Green Social Club recovered from an early setback to rout hosts Kings Arms 8-1 in Premier & Section 1 of the Greene King ODDA League.

The home side took the opening leg thanks to a win from Simon Keys (180), but that proved to be their only success.

Joe Palmer, Geordie Grant (180), Terry Wood, Neil Russell and Sean Holly, who hit two maximums, all won for the Premier leaders, who increased their margin by taking all three pairs.

Runaway Division 2 leaders Corner House A won 6-3 in their top-of-the table at second-placed Chequers Inn B.

The hosts took a 2-1 lead after wins from Steve Coling and Jason Taylor, but replies from Richard Reveley, Rhys Kerry, Trevor Ballard and Mark Kerry earned the visitors victory.

Carl Edgington gave Cricketers Arms A the lead at Red Lion A, who hit back to lead 3-1 thanks to Darren Beavan, Tom Cooper and Adam Bekus, who landed two maximums.

John Goodenough and Martin Andrews made it 3-3, but Lion edge the pairs to get home 5-4.

Red Lion, from Ladies Section 1, caused an upset with a thrilling 5-4 success at home to Premier opponents Witney Snooker Club.

After taking a 2-0 lead through Ali Bateman and June Rouse, the home side were hauled back to 2-2 as Maggie Dexter-Naylor and Carol Smith won for Witney.

Carol Caldcutt restored Lion’s lead, before the Snooker Club’s Kim Reynolds levelled at 3-3.

But Lion would not be denied a famous victory as they took the pairs.

Six Bells A went 2-0 ahead at home to Kidlington FC B in Division 2, thanks to Ruth Benfield and Rebecca Jacques.

The visitors stormed back to lead 4-2 with victories from Alison Russell, Fiona Betteridge, Wendy Plowman and Hollie Lord, before hanging on to win 5-4.
