OXFORD Saints are in danger of missing the end-of season play-offs following their surprise 20-6 defeat to Ouse Valley Eagles at Bedford.

They must win both their remaining games to secure their place in the season's finale.

Earlier in the season Saints, who won their previous two games, had romped to a 35-14 success over their opponents in Southern Conference Central Division 1.

However Eagles, strengthened by several new signings, dominated possession.

After a scoreless first period, during which Oxford’s Sam Fielden missed a field goal, powerful running back Jamahl Watson scored an 80-yard touchdown, Mike Turner adding the extra point.

Saints responded with Tony Glover running the ball in from two yards, but Fielden’s two-point conversion attempt failed.

So Saints trailed 7-6 at half-time.

After a scoreless third quarter, Saints attempted another field goal at the beginning of the fourth, but Fielden’s kick from 26 yards out went wide.

Eagles stretched their lead when Watson ran through for his second touchdown, Turner adding the kick to make it 14-6.

A pass on the next drive from Saints’ quarter-back James Walter was intercepted by Akintunde Adewale, who returned the ball 51 yards into the endzone to seal the result.
