HEADINGTON A and Watlington are going head-to-head for the title after recording big wins in Division 1 of the Bridle Insurance Oxford & District League.

Reigning champions Carterton have become the whipping boys for the top two.

A week after being trounced by Watlington, the west Oxfordshire side suffered a whitewash defeat by Headington on their own green.

Nick Rae-Welsh’s rink recorded the biggest win by 20 shots.

Watlington had a tighter 76-71 victory at West Witney, whose only success came from Andy McIntyre, who won by 12.

The leading two teams meet on July 13 in what could be the title-decider.

Skip Colin Pollard’s 30-shot success led City & County to a 95-69 win at Banbury central A.

He should have won by more as his rink dropped seven shots in the final two ends.

Despite not playing, Kidlington remain four points clear at the top of Division 2.

Witney Mills, closed the gap with a comfortable win at bottom club Adderbury Division 3 leaders, Charlbury increased their advantage with an 84-69 win at Headington B.

While Eric Pitts’s men were able to break clear for the visitors, the other rinks were separated by no more than three shots.

The loss leaves Headington bottom.
