KEVIN Stuart was in scintillating form when clanging off 15 dolls (6-5-4), but it was all in vain as Garsington Sports beat Section 1 hosts George A 2-1 in the Greene King Oxford & District League, writes ANDY BEAL.

The Premier Section visitors set and won the opening leg 28-26, before the home side levelled 26-24.

Garsington, for whom Clive Proudfoot top-scored with 14 (4-5-5), clinched the decider 30-22.

Jon Townsend also whipped off 15 (5-5-5) and ended up on the losing side as Swan A lost 20-26, 28-23, 27-24 at Three Pigeons.

Dave Edwards (5-5-3) and Neil Lyon (5-4-4) both hit 13 for the hosts.

Premier leaders Gladiators A beat Swan B 26-25, 22-27, 30-24.

Anchorman Keith Weller clinched the first leg for Gladiators, whipping off the winning doll with his last stick,

Swan hit back, but the visitors set a formidable 30 in the decider to secure a 2-1 victory.

Anchor man Eddie Lacey proved the hero as Red Lion A Yarnton beat Black Prince 2-1.

With the match level and Red Lion stuttering in their reply to 23 in the final leg, Lacey needed all six to secure victory and did not disappoint.

Rob Bradford bagged a six in his 13-doll haul (6-4-3) for Prince.

Pip Goulding whipped off 14 (5-5-4) as New Club beat Section 1 leaders Woodman 32-22, 26-26 (on three sticks), 24-27.

In Section 2, Six Bells E Kidlington’s unbeaten run came to an end in a 24-17, 17-19, 27-18 defeat at home to Bullnose Morris A.

Willy Waite led the way with 14 (4-4-6) for the visitors.

Chequers C opened up a two-point lead at the top after whitewashing Gladiators B on their own patch.

After winning the first two legs 25-14, 20-19, anchor man Dave Green clanged off five to clinch the third 22-20.

Geoff Townsend top-scored for Gladiators with 13 (5-4-4).

Steve Ward clanged off 14 (5-5-4) as Six Bells D Kidlington saw off Black Horse C 21-21 (on three sticks), 21-9, 20-18.

Section 3 leaders Garsington Sports B lost at home to New Club B 15-9, 12-18, 18-16.

But White House’s title ambitions were dealt a blow when they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Blackbird.

The hosts won the first two legs 22-20, 19-4, before the visitors took the third on three sticks after it was tied 20-20.

Donnington made it six Section 4 wins in a row with victory over Black Swan.

After winning the first leg 15-9, they were pegged back when Swan took the second on three sticks after it was tied 13-13.

Donnington won the decider 20-11.

Masons Arms A lost 11-14, 20-17, 16-8 to Rose Hill Club C.

Democrats remain bottom after a 10-15, 17-12, 14-13 defeat to Green Club B.

BULLNOSE Morris B went level top of Section 5 with a 15-8, 16-12, 10-9 win over Fox & Goat.

In Section 6, Marston British Legion came from behind to defeat leaders Six Bells B Quarry 11-14, 24-20, 14-13.

Northway and Black Horse B were involved in a lengthy clash.

Black Horse went 2-0 up, taking the second leg on three sticks.

And they won the third 17-16 after the sides could not be separated after three and one-stick shoot-outs.

Florence Park made it five wins in a row when beating White Hart A 11-10, 17-8, 8-13.

In Section 7, Red Lion B Yarnton remain unbeaten with a 15-11, 17-9, 17-16 win at home to Prince of Wales.

Black Horse ‘A’ scored more dolls than the Tandem (43-36), but still lost 20-10, 8-9, 15-17.

Golden Ball are the only other team not to lose in the league as they beat Seacourt Bridge B 3-0 in Section 8.
