SIMI Fajemisin impressed to win two medals at the England U20/U23 Championships at Bedford.

The Oxford City star, ranked No 1 in the British Under 23 women’s rankings, clinched gold in the triple jump with an effort of 12.39m.

Fajemisin, who will compete at next month’s World Championships Team Trials in Birmingham, also took bronze in the long jump.

The medal success did not stop there for Oxfordshire’s athletes.

In the under 23 women’s discus, Radley’s Kathryn Woodcock clinched silver with a throw of 50.63m.

Clubmate Luisa Chantler Edmond’s effort of 45.80 helped her replicate that success in the under 20 equivalent.

Oxford City’s Alice Byles, fresh from winning the Southern title, also won silver, taking second in the under 20 400m hurdles final.

She set a personal best of 1min 0.59secs in winning her heat and has moved up to second in the national rankings.

Byles has also been selected for the trials and to represent the south in the Home Counties International.

Teammate Katie Hetherington also won a medal, finding her form when it mattered in setting a personal best of 1.68 as she clinched bronze in the under 20 high jump.

She has now moved up to tenth in the national rankings.

In the under 23 men’s pole vault, Oxford University’s Rowan May was also amongst the medals, claiming bronze with an effort of 5m.

Fellow student Alex Gruen came third in the under 20 men’s 1,500m, crossing in 3.59.16.

Meanwhile, Ben Claridge, of White Horse Harriers, finished sixth in the under 23 men’s 400m final.

Banbury’s Alfie Rowett set a season’s best of 10.97 in finishing fifth in his heat of the under 23 men’s 100m.

He also missed out on the 200m semi-finals after coming fourth in his preliminary round.

Oxford University’s Hugo Fleming came fourth in the second heat of the 800m.

In the under 20 men’s 400m, Banbury’s Seb Hartwell crossed fifth in his heat.

Oliver Stacey, of Radley, came seventh in the first preliminary round of the 110m hurdles.

Banbury’s Emily Thompson finished sixth in the final under 20 women’s 800m.

Oxford City’s Jade O’Dowda and Sophie Seger, both in their first year in the under 20s, set personal bests of 14.46 and 15.22secs as they finished fifth and sixth respectively in the same heat of the 100m hurdles.
