DOMINIC O’Connor’s century was all in vain as Horspath 2nd fell to a four-wicket defeat at home to Long Marston, leaving them still searching for their first victory.

Winning the toss, Horspath batted first and O’Connor’s 108 and Graham Beer’s 50 saw them to 233-9 in their 50 overs.

But Long Marston made light work of the target, easing to 234-6 in the 48th over as Rory Miscampbell struck 81.

Abingdon Vale won a thriller at Banbury 2nd by one wicket.

Vale inserted their hosts, who managed only 190-8 in their 50 overs.

Justin Lambden top-scored for the home side with 52, while Tom Bartlett hit 46.

Vale lost regular wickets in their reply, but Tim Chilvers (48) and Amith Premkumar (40) helped them close in on their total.

But it needed a final-wicket stand of 15 between David Murphy and last man Paul White, who hit 12 off 12 balls, to steer their side to 194-9 in the 48th over for the narrowest of victories.

Oxford Downs moved up to second as they brushed aside hosts Twyford by 89 runs.

Frankie Crouch (45) and George Sandbach (39) helped Downs to 214 all out in the last over.

Twyford were then tumbled out for 125 as Amin Rafiq returned figures of 3-29.

Cumnor exacted swift revenge on Aston Rowant 2nd as they saw off the visitors by 24 runs to move up to sixth place.

Cumnor, who lost out to Rowant in last Sunday’s Village Cup final, batted first and posted 226 all out as Trenton Schulz-Franco hit 61.

Rowant were then dismissed for 199, despite 66 from Tim Morgan.

Tiddington fell to a 77-run defeat at home to leaders Dinton, for whom Brennan Gough, son of former England star Darren, smashed a brilliant 132.

Gough’s ton helped Dinton to 257 all out in the 49th over, Max Smith taking 4-42 for the hosts.

Harry McNeilly top-scored with 67 in Tiddington’s reply, but they fell for 180 as Zargham Ali, Will Fisher and Akeel Khan took three wickets apiece.

VISHANE Perera’s second century of the season helped Didcot to a 54-run Division 2 victory at home to Oxford 2nd on a scorching afternoon at Boundary Park.

The win moved Didcot up to third in the table in a highly entertaining clash.

Winning the toss, Oxford opted to field first.

Opening pair Perera and Simon Pritchard shared 38 for the first wicket, before the latter fell to an Adam Hall catch off the bowling of Abdullah Sadiqi.

Sadiqi then removed Elliot Mathews for three, but an 84-run stand between Perera and Kiwi Dan Swindells took Didcot to 131-3.

Perera and Richard Cook then took the score to 230-4 as captain Cook hit 51 in 67 balls, while Perera reached a superb century.

The former Oxford player finished on 117 from 137 balls, his innings containing 16 fours.

His century saw Didcot to a formidable total of 306-6 from their 50 overs, though their score was aided by a remarkable 60 extras, including 26 wides and six penalty runs for a slow over rate.

Jacob Humphreys was the pick of the Oxford attack with 3-52 from seven overs.

Oxford got their chase off to an excellent start as Harold Porter and Arthur Muir shared 60 for the first wicket.

The visitors were always in the hunt as Ian Crosby hit 50 from 60 balls and Matthew Reilly a quickfire 60 from 39 deliveries.

But they were bowled out for 252 in the 45th over as Ian Demain took 4-59 and Cook 3-70.

LAWRENCE Brock returned magnificent figures of 6-29 to help Great & Little Tew to a resounding eight-wicket success at home to Cropredy.

Brock’s super haul helped to dismiss Cropredy for only 140, Luke Cherry (39) and Russell Beckett (37) the only batsmen to look comfortable.

Skipper Markus Jeacock then hit 52 not out and Tim Wyatt 34 to see Tew home to a comfortable victory at 142-2 in the 31st over.

Steve Dobson smashed a brilliant century as Sandford St Martin saw off struggling visitors Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts by 57 runs to move clear of the bottom two teams.

Dobson’s 108 came from just 76 balls, including 16 fours and three sixes, helping Sandford post a formidable target of 303-9 in their 50 overs.

Tom Goffe also chipped in with 54 batting at No 8, his half-century coming off 44 deliveries with six fours and a six.

Nondies replied with an excellent 98 from Chris Day and 38 from Aadam Samiullah.

But they were dismissed for 246, Tom Rothwell taking 3-41 and Goffe 3-59.

Challow & Childrey were shot out for just 69 as they crashed to a seven-wicket defeat at Leighton Buzzard Town.

James Aldridge (5-33) was chief destroyer with Challow’s top-score coming courtesy of extras with 19.

Buzzard reached 70-3 in the 15th over to seal victory.

Bledlow Village beat hosts Buckingham Town 2nd by ten runs.

Charlie Downes top-scored with 66 in Bledlow’s 263-8.

Buckingham got close, thanks to 58 from Ben Laycock, but they finished short on 253-8 as Will Woodward claimed 4-40.
