OXFORD City will be asked for their opinion on a new proposal to change the promotion format from the National Leagues.

Under the plans, City, who play in Vanarama National League South, could end up moving up to non-league’s top tier next season even if they finish seventh.

League bosses have issued a proposal to all 68 of its member clubs, detailing plans for six teams to compete in play-offs across all three leagues.

At the moment, the champions gain automatic promotion and teams placed second to fifth play for the other promotion spot.

But under the new plans, all play-off matches would consist of one game, scrapping the current two-legged semi-finals.

Clubs finishing second and third would receive byes, hosting the winners of fourth against seventh and fifth against sixth.

All teams will be asked for their opinions on the proposal at the annual meeting on June 10.
