EDDIE Pepperell is in competitive action on the European Tour for the first time in a month as he tees up at the Open de Portugal this afternoon.

The Abingdon golfer, who took part in Oxford City’s Pro-am last week, has made just one cut in six events this season, a tie for 22nd at the Hero Indian Open in March.

But the 26-year-old has an opportunity to make up some ground in the order of merit after entering the fields in Morgado today and at Verdura in Italy next week.

Pepperell, who plays at Frilford Heath, begins his challenge at 12.30pm, alongside Reinier Saxton from the Netherlands and France’s Matthieu Pavon.
