OXFORD will have two teams in the National Ice Hockey League structure next season.
The Junior Stars will play in the third tier, known as Division 2, and will act as a development team for Oxford City Stars, who are playing one level above following a reorganisation of the domestic game.
It will see them compete in a 13-team league alongside the likes of Basingstoke Buffalo, Bracknell Hornets, and Swindon Wildcats 2.
Jayne Harrison, from the Junior Stars, said: “This is a landmark event in terms of junior hockey development in the city, and is reward for the hard work we’ve all invested in the junior club. We’re looking forward to exciting times ahead.”
To build the team and give senior players game time, a summer league will be held, starting next month.
