KEA secured the John Fathers Oxfordshire Junior Shield after a 3-1 victory against Carterton Rangers in the final at North Leigh.

In doing so, they added the county title to the Lord Jersey Cup they won on Easter Monday.

Carterton went in front in the 28th minute when a defensive error allowed Mykel Ryan to collect a rebound to give the Witney & District side the lead from close range.

KEA suffered a further setback in the 35th minute when striker Dan Sweeney suffered a dislocated shoulder following an accidental collision with Carterton keeper Daniel Floyd.

His counterpart Mark Wickens had to be alert in the 40th minute to deny Ryan a second goal.

Floyd, was in inspired form, keeping out everything KEA had to throw at them.

Wayne Blossom was upended in the penalty area, but Liam Godin’s well-taken spot-kick was brilliantly saved by Floyd.

Early in the second half, the outstanding Floyd denying both Wayne Blossom and Godin, before he pulled off a breathtaking save from Dean Smith’s strike.

But KEA deservedly equalised in the 61st minute when Lee Blossom found Wayne Blossom, who unleashed an unstoppable shot past Floyd.

In the 72nd minute, a Vinny Orrey cross was neatly flicked on by Tom Bennett for striker Godin to give KEA the lead.

Three minutes later, they made it 3-1. Following another Floyd save from Godin, the ball fell to Wayne Blossom who netted his second goal.

This proved the killer blow as KEA saw out the last 15 minutes to secure the trophy.
