OXFORD RL lost 40-28 to Coventry in Kingstone Press League 1, but the scoreline flattered the visitors, who scored three tries in the last five minutes to cut the deficit.
Jordan Gill and Andy Hoggins put Oxford 10-6 in front, but Coventry led 16-10 at the break with Jack Morrison, Harry Chapman and Jamahl Hunte going over.
The Blues were put on a team warning in the early stages of the second half after conceding four penalties in three minutes.
Richard Hughes extended the lead, and when Oxford were down to 12 men with Dwaine McRae in the sin bin, three converted tries through Zach Johnson, Matt Reid and Billy Gaylor put Coventry 40-10 ahead.
Oxford hit back with late tries from Gill, McRae and Harvey Burnett, but the damage had been done.
