DARREN Jones was the star as British Rail beat closest rivals Forum A 6-4 to become Oxford & District League Division 1 champions for the first time Jones won all three matches to confirm his status as top player this year.

 

Neil Cartwright backed him up with two wins to finish with the league’s second best record.

Karl Bushell hit back for Forum by beating Cartwright and Greg Donovan, but they could not derail the new champions.

Begbroke and Vikings A are the two relegated sides from the top flight.

Forum D beat Gladiators B 8-2 to overhaul Gladiators A and finish top of Division 2, Nick Langley and Paul Casey notching up maximums Paul Knight, of Gladiators A, was the division’s top player, while Forum F and G are relegated.

Forum I beat Bicester C 7-3 to finish top of Division 3, thanks to trebles from Jake East and Joao Camacho.

Vikings C took the second promotion place by the narrowest possible margin ahead of Bicester C, who could only draw their last match.

The sides finished equal on points, number of wins, draws and losses, but Vikings edged it by winning just one extra set over the season.

Forum’s Jake East was the division’s top player.

In the two-a-side competition, Bicester F were the clear winners, with Forum J in second place. Bicester F’s Jose Munoz Ruiz was the overall top player.
