ABINGDON’S gymnasts enjoyed plenty of success in Southampton with Alica Takanami-Baker and Rosie Greer qualifying for the national finals.

Takanami-Baker starred in the compulsory four competition.

A faultless performance saw her take bronze on beam, silver on floor and silver on range and conditioning.

Takanami-Baker’s combined score of 62.3 helped her win the overall gold medal and crown her southern region champion.

As a result, she will now compete in the national finals on April 28-29.

Olivia Kenny (bronze on beam) and Tiegan Trafford (silver on bars and bronze on floor) were also in the compulsory four section.

Greer joins Takanami-Baker in the national finals after finishing fourth overall in compulsory three, where she took gold with a brilliant beam routine.

In compulsory five, Corrina Gooderham took overall bronze and gold on floor in her first competition away from Abingdon.

Scarlett Cairns placed sixth amongst a strong national grade 3 field.

In the Abingdon grades competition, Macy-Mai Timony was crowned champion in grade 1, with teammate Imogen Nutt taking silver.

At club grade 5, Grace Waller took the title and Maia Martin was fourth.

All four girls competed at the regional finals where Waller won silver and Timony bronze.
