MARTYN Lloyd, a former Oxford Blue who was a member of Oxfordshire’s Minor Counties Championship winning side in 1974, has died aged 62.
An elegant middle-order batsman, he had captained the Oxon Under 15s and Colts before his elevation to the senior side.
Lloyd (pictured) played 38 Championship matches between 1974 and 1977, scoring 1,014 runs at an average of 19.88.
This included six half-centuries, with a highest score of 70 against Bucks at Witney Mills in 1975.
An outstanding fielder, he played his club cricket for North Oxford.
Lloyd, who won his Blue in 1974, had a season for Dorset in 1981.
His teaching career was mainly at Charterhouse School, Surrey.
