KAIMAN Anderson struck on his debut to secure a 1-1 draw for Oxford City away to Wealdstone, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

Anderson was one of two players making their first appearance for City in Vanarama National League South, following the signing of winger Wilson Carvalho from Kettering Town.

But it was another debutant, Wealdstone’s Joshua Walker, who made the quickest start, firing his side in front after just four minutes.

After Edward Oshodi’s shot was blocked, Walker seized on the loose ball and tucked it between the legs of goalkeeper Craig Hill.

It could have been 2-0 shortly after when the hosts were granted a golden opportunity after Hill was penalised for picking up a backpass.

City piled ten men onto the goalline when Wealdstone were awarded an indirect free-kick inside the area.

It was only the woodwork which denied former Oxford United defender David Hunt when he bent a shot towards the top corner.

Hill made amends four minutes later with a superb one-handed stop to push away Daniel Green’s ferocious strike from the edge of the area.

Having made it to half-time with just the one-goal deficit, City quickly set about hauling themselves level in the early stages of the second half.

Jefferson Louis was desperately unlucky not to be celebrating the equaliser as his superb volley from the edge of the area went just inches wide.

But just two minutes later the two new boys connected, Carvalho’s cross causing chaos in the Wealdstone area to allow Anderson to bend his shot past the helpless goalkeeper.

The hosts came on strong in the closing stages, but Hill was on hand to deny them.

Two minutes into stoppage time, Green raced free and unleashed a powerful shot, which was expertly tipped over the bar by the City stopper.

Oshodi got his head to the resulting corner after sneaking in at the back post, but City were able to breathe a sigh of relief at a hard-earned point as it clattered off the upright.
