HOLTON A qualified for the quarter-finals of the Oxford League’s Aubrey Hughes Handicap Shield, with a nail-biting ten-point win at home to Bicester D in their final group match.
Giving away a handicap of 98 points, the Holton trio of Brian Dobson, Sharon Curtis and Wing Ho triumphed 401-391 to top Group 6.
Vikings A had an exciting 13-point victory over Forum H, but it is still Vikings C that go through from Group 2.
Forum A, one of the favourites for this competition, were forced to withdraw at short notice.
They suddenly found themselves short of players with one suffering a bereavement, one still hospitalised after a nasty accident and another temporarily stuck overseas.
