NATHAN Douglas and Hannah England failed to make the Great Britain team for the summer’s Olympic Games in Rio.

Triple jumper Douglas failed to meet the Olympic qualifying standard for a second time, while fellow Oxford City athlete England was unable to run the standard time for the 1,500m.

Oxfordshire’s athletes had precious little luck at the Muller Anniversary Games at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Stadium.

Douglas struggled to a ninth-placed finish, while Lawrence Clarke was disqualified in the final of the 110m hurdles.

Oxford United parted ways with some of the stars who had played a major role in their promotion to Sky Bet League One.

Top-scorer Kemar Roofe was sold to Championship side Leeds United for a club-record fee and winger Callum O’Dowda departed for Bristol City after coming through the U’s youth system from the age of nine.

Captain Jake Wright left after six years at the club and joined Sheffield United, where he was reunited with former boss Chris Wilder.

Oxford City were rocked by the sudden death of managing director Colin Taylor.

Taylor, involved with the club for more than 20 years, was found dead at the club’s ground on the morning after a pre-season friendly.
