THE promising Lili-Mae Snuggs performed brilliant to secure two top-ten finishes in the Espoir British Championships.

The 12-year-old member of Abingdon Gym Club, qualified for the event after passing her final compulsory grade – the only gymnast from Oxfordshire to do so.

Competing against some gymnasts a year older, Snuggs finished a highly-creditable 13th out of 38 in the overall contest

Her best scores came from the floor and vault disciplines, where faultless performances placed her in the top eight, qualifying her for the apparatus finals.

There she finished seventh on the vault and eighth on floor, despite some errors.

But to even make the finals was a huge achievement in itself.

Snuggs is now working towards the English championships which take place in April.

Meanwhile, nine-year-old clubmate Rosie Greer came 11th in her age group championships.

As a result of her consistent performances throughout the year, she has been selected to be a member of the British national development squad for 2017.

This is a huge achievement for Greer who will now attend weekend training camps at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre.

Both girls, along with several clubmates, will travel to Boston in the USA in February for a training camp with the coaches of double Olympic champion Aly Raisman.
