ICE HOCKEY: Oxford City Stars now expect to be without Darren Elliott until the new year.

Elliott suffered a leg injury in a BBO Cup tie at Bracknell a fortnight ago and will not be in action until January.

With Dax Hedges and Joe Oliver still a week from coming back, Stars are unchanged for this weekend’s double-header in South Division 1 of the English National League.

After travelling to Milton Keynes Thunder tonight (7pm), Stars are at home to Streatham tomorrow (6.15).

SKI-ING: Two more Oxfordshire youngsters have been added to the England Alpine ski squad.

Jack Cunningham, from Brize Norton, who attends Cheltenham College, has been selected for the Rossignol Rookie programme along with fellow 14-year-old Louis De Pourtales, a former Dragon School, Oxford pupil from Beckley.

The pair join the highly promising 12-year-old Magdalen College School pupil Adrian Yang, who was selected to the squad last month.

DUALTHON: Dan Blake, of Oxford City’s AC, finished second in the Ballbuster Duathlon in Surrey in a time of 2hrs 54mins 29 secs.

In the persistent rain and strong winds, the Ubyk/Orbea-sponsored athlete battled his way round the eight-mile run, 24-mile bike rider and eight mile final run around the London Olympics cycling road race course at Box Hill.

It completed a fine season for Blake, who had a series of duathlon and triathlon top-three finishes

BOXING: There were mixed fortunes for Blackbird Leys ABC boxers when fighting at a show in London.

Brent Dolton won a unanimous points decision, but clubmate Joe Gaul lost on a controversial split verdict.

Blackbirds Leys novices Ivor Price and Finlay Haines had their first skills bouts, both of which resulted in no decisions.
