JOHN Lundstram says it is extra important for Oxford United to deliver tomorrow – because otherwise they will have to wait two weeks to make amends.

Millwall visit the Kassam Stadium for a 1pm kick-off, which is followed by fixtures in the Emirates FA Cup and Checkatrade Trophy.

With their next game in Sky Bet League One not coming until November 12, for the visit to Shrewsbury Town, it would be a long time to stew if United fell short against the Lions.

Lundstram said: “It can be a good or bad thing and we won’t know until after the game.

“A two-week break in league games after a win is brilliant, but when you lose on a Saturday you want a Tuesday game straight away to put it right.”

One game they will be desperate to avoid repeating is United’s other lunchtime fixture this season.

AFC Wimbledon won 3-1 at the Kassam Stadium, with all their goals coming before half-time.

While early kick-offs mean a slight change in the routine for players, Lundstram is confident the Dons display had nothing to do with the time of day.

United’s skipper said: “The preparation is the same, it’s just a couple of hours earlier.

“I don’t think the time difference was a factor in the AFC Wimbledon game at all.

“It was just one of those days, their style of play beat ours.

“It’s nothing to worry about, we just need to go out and put on a better performance than we did against Wimbledon.”

Lundstram, 22, is one of several survivors in United’s squad from the side which knocked Millwall out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last season.

The underdogs won the two-legged area final 2-1 to reach the showpiece at Wembley.

The midfielder reckons that experience will be beneficial, particularly with the Londoners adopting a similar tactical approach this season.

He said: “We know how good they were last year, they weren’t two easy games at all as everyone knows.

“We played really well to beat them.

“We do know what to expect, they haven’t changed too much and hopefully we get the same overall result.”
