OXFORDSHIRE Schools opened their South West Counties Under 16 League campaign with a 3-1 defeat at home to Berkshire at Milton United.

Eddie Lee fired Berkshire ahead with an unstoppable shot after only five minutes.

But excellent defending from Matty Fitzgerald and Rio Burgoyne ensured they did not add to their lead in the first half.

Berkshire made the game safe with two goals in a minute just before the hour. Connor Nunes scored with a low shot through a crowd of players and Sam Robinson added a third with a swerving shot.

Harry Hudson pulled a goal back for Oxon, cutting in from the left and placing his low shot inside the far post.

EAST Oxford United under 13s won a nine-goal thriller away to Florence Park in the Oxford Mail Youth League on Sunday.

The visitors won the Autumn B clash 5-4 thanks to goals from Adnan Parves (2), Gerald Muchelhenc, Abdullah Said and Orgito Neli.

Joshua Bushnell netted twice for Park, whose other scorers were Courtney Cooke and Callum McCaigue.
