DIDCOT Town boss Andy Ballard called on his side to build on Saturday’s draw with Hereford with another positive result at home to AFC Totton this evening.

The Railwaymen became just the second side to take points off the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West leaders with Saturday’s 2-2 draw, but Ballard said it is vital hey back it up this evening.

“Saturday’s result doesn’t mean much if we don’t follow it with another,” he said.

“This is a great opportunity to get a few positive results under our belts.”

Ryan Barney and Jack Longford remain sidelined with knee injuries.

Wantage Town have added former Carterton defender Dan Sadler to the squad ahead of their trip to Shortwood United.

However, player-manager Stuart Cattell admitted his side have most struggled in attacking areas this season after dropping to the foot of the table – scoring just nine times in 13 league games.

Cattell said: “The main thing I’m concerned about is our goals scored tally.

“We’re getting balls into decent areas, but we’ve not really delivered with the quality we need.

“Unless we keep a clean sheet we’ll get nothing out of games, because we’re not scoring.

“We’ve scored nine goals this season – there are strikers in this league who’ve scored more than that on their own.”

The Alfredians are without the unavailable Tom Butler, Harry Halls and Mason Thompson, as well as the injured Adam Doyle (knee), Jake Johns (groin) and Tai Hulbert-Thomas (hernia).

Kidlington name an unchanged squad as they travel to Uxbridge in Division 1 Central.

The Greens opened up a seven-point gap over the drop zone with a 3-1 home triumph over Petersfield Town on Saturday, but manager Julian McCalmon has warned against complacency this evening against another struggling side.

He said: “If you look at a few of the other sides down there with us, they’re all good sides.

“Really the difference is mentality.

“Ship a goal or two and you can see the confidence drain out of them and the gameplan goes out of the window.

“I’ve already come up against Uxbridge when I was at Marlow and I was really impressed.

“I think they’re in a false position, to be honest.”

Mark Flanagan is unavailable, while Ben Weedon (hamstring), Kristian Thomas (knee), Jack Dunmall and Charlie Wise (both ankle) are injured.

In the Premier Division, Jacob Blackstock misses Banbury United’s trip to St Ives Town after being called up for Antigua & Barbuda Under 20s.

The Puritans threw away an early lead as their long unbeaten league run came to an end with a 2-1 defeat at home to Frome Town on Saturday and manager Mike Ford has urged his side to improve defensively.

“We haven’t kept a clean sheet for a while now and it’s becoming a problem,” he said.

“Clean sheets won’t win you games, but they will guarantee you don’t lose them.

“I just feel we need to make ourselves more difficult to play against if we want to avoid this kind of thing happening.

“We’ve lost five games this season and four of them could have been avoided.”
