ALAN Green scored four goals as Oxford City Stars trounced Invicta Dynamos 6-3 for a rare victory in Kent.

Dynamos are one of the favourites to win the English National League South Division 1 title this season, but Stars consigned previous poor results in Gillingham to history with a stunning victory.

Bolstered by the return from injury of Dominic Hopkins and netminder Tom Annetts, Stars gave debuts to new signing Hallam Wilson and loanee Grant Richardson.

Coach Simon Anderson decided to change his import pairing with Finn Joonas Liimatainen returning at the expense of Boris Ruzicka. Stars were also without forwards Mike Whillock and Josh Florey.

Despite some fine saves from Stars netminder Tom Annets, the home side scored first when Adam Rehak latched onto a Mason Webster pass.

The visitors upped their work rate and were back on level terms when Darren Elliott fired home following good work from Dax Hedges.

Within 90 seconds, Stars had taken the lead when Green finished off after being set up by Ondrej Pekarik.

They had further chances to extend their lead, but Dynamos netminder Damian King made three fine saves in quick succession.

The second period belonged to the Stars, who played their best hockey of the season.

It was from fine teamwork that Green netted his second and the team’s third goal.

Invicta pushed back but Annetts was equal to everything thrown at him.

Ben Nethersall made it 4-1 when his shot from the blue line somehow found its way through a group of players, clipped the inside of the post and went in.

Stars knew they would have to work hard in the third period and Invicta soon pulled a goal back through Ashley Jackson to raise their hopes.

But less than 30 seconds, later the visitors had restored their three-goal lead when Green completed his hat trick.

With less than five minutes left, Green hit his fourth and the Stars’ sixth goal, while Invicta’s Arran Strawson served a two-minute penalty for interference.

The home side hit a consolation marker with a minute left when former Oxford player Steve Osman scored, but that could not halt Stars’ celebrations.
