EAST Hendred got up and running in North Berks League Division 1 with a 4-3 home victory over previously-undefeated Burghclere, writes RICHARD UNDERWOOD.

The hosts had trailed 3-2 at half-time thanks to goals from Alex Smith, Ben Wicks and George Holland, but struck back after the break.

Liam Eltham’s strike and a Ben Eltham penalty kept Hendred in touch, but it was only in the final ten minutes that they turned the tables, equalising through Jordan Pacey before Mark Brind headed home the winner.

Unbeaten Berinsfield remain top of the table following their 4-0 victory at Stanford in the Vale, thanks to goals from Luke Holdsworth, Mark Ingram, David Murphy and Max Palmer.

Aaron Andrews netted two second-half goals as North Oxford maintained their unbeaten record with a 4-1 win at Hanney United in Division 2.

Steve Andrews and a Dale Cameron penalty had put the visitors ahead at the break, with James Bishop replying for Hanney.

Steventon moved into third place in the table with a 4-2 away victory over Kintbury Rangers Res.

Fraser King scored twice for the hosts, but Steventon claimed the points thanks to a John Green brace and goals from Gary Rudman and Andrew Cooper.

Jake Chaffery notched a double as Harwell Village posted their first victory in the league with a 4-2 triumph at Dorchester.

Paul Churchouse and Matthew Aplin also netted for the visitors, with Ben Parry and Jordan Lyne registering for Dorchester.

Watlington Town maintained their place at the top of Division 3 with a 1-0 win at Benson Lions, thanks to a Phil Hedges volley.

Tom Bennett and Jamie Gregory both scored twice as Ardington & Lockinge thumped visiting Grove Rangers 6-1.

Jonathan Dix and Kevin Thimbleby also netted for the hosts, with Joshua Giles hitting Rangers’ consolation.

Uffington United are bottom of the table following their 2-1 defeat at home to Saxton Rovers Res.

Pete Byrne netted for United but they were beaten by goals from Michael Smith and Jacob Fahl.
