BANBURY United boss Mike Ford expects his side to carry their cup form into the league as they travel to Kettering Town tomorrow.

The Puritans ended a four-match losing streak in emphatic fashion last weekend, defeating hosts Dorchester Town 3-0 in the Emirates FA Cup first qualifying round.

And now Ford wants to see his side continue that form in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division.

“The way we won the game was what made it so pleasing,” he said.

“We absolutely controlled it, scored three really good goals and just saw them off with no trouble.

“I want us to maintain it this weekend and really cause Kettering some problems.”

Winger Mark Bell returns to the Banbury side, but they are without the unavailable Jack Westbrook and Zac McEachran with a knee injury.

Full-back Dave Lynn has returned to Thame United, with midfielder Marvin Martin expected to join after leaving Didcot Town.

The Railwaymen, meanwhile, welcome Mangotsfield United in Division 1 South & West without Ryan Barney (knee) and Nick Thorne (dead leg).

But with captain Luke Carnell available for selection following an ankle injury and with the benefit of a two-week break since their last outing, player-manager Andy Ballard expects his side to put a faltering start behind them.

“We’ve been a bit up and down this season,” he said.

“You do expect that when you have a lot of injuries, but all these players know how to play and they’ve done it before at this level.

“It’s frustrating that we can beat Winchester 4-0 with ten men and then struggle so much in some of our other games.”

Defender Sam Elkins is unavailable for Didcot for an extended spell due to work commitments.

Wantage Town look for an immediate recovery from Monday’s 6-1 Emirates FA Cup defeat to Beaconsfield SYCOB as they travel to Bishops Cleeve.

Wantage were forced to play 75 minutes with ten men following Kai Robinson’s early red card, but player-manager Stuart Cattell is hopeful there will be no hangover this weekend.

He said: “We’ve had a busy run of games and towards the end they did look tired.

“I hope that with a few days rest they’ll have had a chance to get their heads right.

“They’re a young squad and they should bounce back just fine.”

Elliott Powell misses out with ankle ligament damage, but Jared Jones, Mark Burton and Mason Thompson return.

John Brough has warned his North Leigh side against complacency ahead of their trip to Taunton Town.

The Millers are on the back of four straight wins, but Brough believes there is more to come.

He said: “We should always be striving to get better, because there’s always room for improvement.

“When you’re in good form the worst thing you can do is relax. “

Jamie Cook and Callum McNish remain sidelined with hamstring injuries, while striker Aaron Woodley is out due to work commitments.

Jermaine McSporran takes charge of Kidlington for the first time tomorrow away to Ashford Town (Middlesex) looking for their first win in Division 1 Central.

McSporran was named interim manager following the resignation of Martin Wilkinson last week, but is taking his new responsibilities in his stride.

He said: “I’ve done this before when Martin Wilkinson was away with work last season, so it’s no different this time.”

With regular goalkeeper Sam Warrell unavailable, McSporran has brought in former Cheltenham Town youth keeper Bojan Tetek.

Brothers Ben and Chris Weedon return to the squad, but injuries rule out Charlie Wise, Mark Flanagan and Ben Fitzmartin.
