WILLIAMS drivers Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas are hoping fond memories of Spa will bode well ahead of tomorrow’s Belgian Grand Prix.
Brazilian Massa won at the legendary circuit with Ferrari in 2008, while Bottas finished third two years ago for the Grove-based team.
“It’s definitely a place I always enjoy visiting and a great pleasure to race around,” said Massa, who was 12th fastest in yesterday’s first practice session.
Teammate Bottas, who was ninth, added: “We were on the podium there in 2014, so that’s a good memory.”
“It’s always one of the best tracks to go to for me.”
Esteban Gutierrez and Romain Grosjean were tenth and 11th respectively for Banbury-based Haas.
Enstone-based Renault endured a disappointing morning, with Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer 20th and 21st.
l CHIPPING Norton's Sean Walkinshaw is in action at the Hungaroring this weekend for the penultimate round of the Blancpain Sprint Cup.
