BILLY Trinder (6-5-4) was inmagnificent form as Garsington Sports A beat George A to get back in the Section 1 title hunt, writes ANDY BEAL.

Visitors Garsington came flying out of the traps 31-22, 28-23, but George avoided a whitewash in the Greene King Oxford & District League by taking the final leg 29-26.

Luke Purcell (5-4-5) threw well for the hosts.

Kevin Giles (6-2-6) hit a double sixer, but it was in vain as Gladiators A lost 2-1 at home to Section 1 leaders Yarnton British Legion.

Anchor man Eddie Lacey (6-4-4) hit a six to secure the first leg 31-29 and Yarnton followed it up with a 25-21 success to secure the victory.

Glads got on the board with a 32-27 victory in the final leg.

Premier leaders Swan A were unable to cash in, losing 2-1 at Bullnose Morris A.

The home side lost the first leg 26-21, but came back strongly to take the next two 26-20, 24-23.

New Club A had a low-scoring victory over The Black Prince.

Robert Taylor (4-5-4) and Jimmy Kent (5-4-4) both hit a bakers dozen for The New Club while Darren Grant (4-4-5) did likewise for The Black Prince in the leg scores of 26-23, 18-26, 25-23.

Six Bells A Quarry threw well to beat Woodman on their own patch 27-22, 30-21, 19-21 for only their third win of the season.

Den Sellar (4-5-6) starred to keep Crown top of Section 2.

They got better as the night went on against visitors Gladiators B, clinching a 21-18, 23-17, 26-22 whitewash.

Garry Baily (5-6-4) whipped off 15 dolls to lead Swan B to a 26-15, 22-20, 23-18 success at home to Red Lion Kidlington.

Six Bells D Kidlington are also in contention following a 19-17, 17-11, 21-14 triumph at Queens Head.

Section 3 leaders Chequers A were given a shock, losing 2-1 at home to Tiddington CC.

Despite being a player short they won the first leg on three sticks after it was tied 14-14, but the cricketers took the next two 18-14, 21-13.

Florence Park A closed the gap with a 2-1 victory against visitors Six Bells B Kidlington.

They were on course for maximum points after taking the first two legs 18-16, 28-17, but came up short to lose the third 19-15.

Vikings Sports A enhanced their chances with a straightforward 3-0 home win over George B.

Kevin Masterson clanged off a six in his ten-doll haul as Vikings romped to a 23-15, 20-14, 19-14 rout.

STEVE Buckle whipped off a six to help send Blackbird top of Section 4 with a 3-0 win at Garsington Sports Club B.

After taking the opening leg 16-12, they prevailed on a one stick shoot-out after the second leg finished 19-19.

The away side wrapped up victory in the final leg, 20-16.

There was some top throwing in the clash between hosts Berkshire House and Masons Arms B.

Charlie Guinan (4-4-5) led the way for the home side, who won 22-15, 22-18, 17-14 despite Joe Bandrowski’s (5-5-4) haul.

Dave Bowler (5-4-3) excelled as Littlemore British Legion had a fine 2-1 away win at previous leaders Donnington Club A.

The visitors came from behind to succeed 17-22, 21-19, 15-18.

Democrats A’s title ambitions in Section 5 came crashing down after they lost 12-11, 15-12, 21-12 at Red Lion B Old Marston.

It allowed Black Swan to build a commanding lead with a 3-0 home triumph against Donnington Club C.

John Styles (4-4-5) led the way in the 20-16, 24-17, 16-15 whitewash.

Bernie McCormack’s (3-4-5) dozen helped Section 6 leaders Vikings Sports D beat hosts Fox & Goat 2-1.

They won the first two legs 16-13, 19-17 with Fox & Goat grabbing the last leg 15-14.

The sharp end of Section 7 remains very tight, with four points separating the top six.

Northway Club A lead the way after beating hosts Original Swan A 2-1.

They clinched the first two legs 17-11, 16-13, but could not make it a maximum after losing the final leg 17-14.

Green Road A are second after a 2-1 victory at Northway B, despite Ian Turner’s (4-5-4) efforts.

The visitors’ 20-19 success in the opening leg was cancelled out by Northway’s three stick shoot-out win after the second leg was tied 12-12.

Green Road sealed victory in the final leg, 17-14.

Marcus Bunning (6-5-3) scored with his first 11 throws as Red Lion B Cassington dented Florence Park B’s title ambitions.

Lion won the first leg 22-13, but had to rely on a three stick shoot-out in the next leg after it was tied 15-15, before taking the last 17-14.

A 3-0 victory for Cricketers put them back in the Section 8 title picture.

Visitors Red Lion A Cassington went down 13-9, 16-12, 20-13.

Black Horse stayed top with an 11-10, 11-10, 15-12 success over Northway Club C.
