BANBURY United’s 100 per cent start to the season was ended by a 1-0 defeat at Dunstable Town.

Mike Ford’s side had won all three of their Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division matches and topped the table going into last night’s clash.

However, Banbury could not recover after conceding an early goal – the first they have let in this season – as they slipped to defeat.

Didcot Town won 4-0 at home to Winchester City in Division 1 South & West, despite playing for 77 minutes with ten men after player-manager Andy Ballard picked up two bookings in the opening 13 minutes.

Ben Whitehead put the Railwaymen ahead after just 12 seconds, the fastest goal scored at the ground.

Ballard then picked up his second booking and was dismissed, but his side stayed on the front foot, with Ryan Brooks doubling their lead on 35 minutes.

Didcot keeper Leigh Bedwell saved a Sam Wilson penalty midway through the half, before George Reid made it 3-0 on 43 minutes.

Jack Powell sealed a great team display with No 4 ten minutes from time as Didcot emphatically recorded their first win of the season North Leigh fell to a 1-0 defeat at Mangotsfield United.

Lewis Powell scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute to condemn John Brough’s side to defeat.

Wantage Town picked up their first point of the campaign in a 1-1 home draw with Evesham.

A 61st-minute penalty from Mark Francis gave Wantage a point after Matt Sysom’s first-half opener.

Kidlington lost 2-1 at Marlow in Division 1 Central.

Martin Wilkinson’s side trailed to Isaac Osei-Tutu’s ninth-minute strike, but Lewis Coyle levelled on the stroke of half-time.

Despite a good display after the break, Kidlington were beaten by a 72nd-minute strike from Devontae Romeo.
