NERVES will not be a factor for Oxford United Women when they host London Bees tomorrow despite a bumper crowd, according to manager Les Taylor

Their biggest attendance of the season for a FA Women’s Super League 2 encounter is expected as the U’s host their Family Fun Day at Abingdon United’s Northcourt Road.

And Taylor believes it will prove a fantastic experience for his young side.

He said: “With any footballer, either in the men’s game or the women’s, you look forward to playing in big games in front of big crowds.

“For quite a few of these girls it will quite possibly be the biggest crowd they’ve played in front of.

“I think we showed that we do tend to raise our game for the bigger matches and they don’t show any fear, so I think they’ll be really looking forward to it.”

Taylor’s options are limited, however, with captain Kat Nutman still out with a knee injury and doubts over defender Riva Casley (toe) and midfielder Georgia Timms (ribs).

Winger Holly Pickett is unavailable after travelling to Spain in her coaching role with United’s youth team, while Laura Nichol has left the club after accepting a scholarship at a university in California.

Lauren Haynes and Lauren Allison are expected to return after missing last weekend’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Everton – a result which extended United’s losing run in the league to three games.

That run began with a late 3-1 reversal at London Bees earlier this month, something Taylor hopes to put right this weekend.

“There wasn’t much between us,” he said.

“ I think we were very disappointed not to come away from that game with something.”

“Conceding those two late goals knocked us a little bit,

“But if we play like we did against Everton last week I’m sure we’ll get our rewards.”
