PETE Rampton clanged off 14 dolls, but it could not stop Six Bells D Kidlington being knocked off top spot in Division 2 of the Greene King Oxford & District League, writes ANDY BEAL.

In wet and windy conditions, Rampton (4-6-4) bagged a maximum in his haul, but finished on the losing side.

Crown boosted their title ambitions by taking the first two legs 22-21, 20-18, before Six Bells edged the final leg 22-21.

Swan B missed out on the chance to go clear at the top as they dropped a point at North Oxford Con Club B in a 17-11, 17-18, 17-13 victory.

Craig Disley (5-4-5) whipped off 14 dolls as Queens Head came from behind to beat New Club B 16-19, 23-14, 14-10.

Swan A moved ahead in the Premier Section with a 3-0 win at home to George A.

Steady throwing from saw them through 25-18, 24-21, 25-18.

Gladiators A dropped a point at Black Prince, where some top-class sticking-up was on show.

Rob Bradford (6-3-4) got the hosts off to a perfect start with a six, helping them win the opening leg 25-24.

Gladiators hit back to edge the remaining legs 20-19, 25-23.

Yarnton BL remain top of Section 1, but their advantage is down to dolls scored following a 2-1 success over New Club A.

The visiting Premier Section side went ahead 26-25, but Yarnton comfortably won the next 30-20.

The home side, for whom Henry Johnson (4-5-4) starred, set 26 in the decider, which proved just enough as New Club fell short on 25.

Chequers A stretched their lead in Section 3 with a 3-0 win at George B.

Dave Simms (5-4-3) led the way in the 18-14, 21-16, 20-14 success.

Nearest challengers Vikings B dropped a valuable point at home to Chequers C.

Vikings’ anchor man Robin Charlton (4-4-4) claimed the four dolls needed to take the first leg 15-14.

Chequers took the next leg 24-21, but Vikings came out on top 20-15 in the decider.

Title hopefuls Florence Park A suffered a setback at King & Queen, who won the deciding leg 15-11.

The first two were shared on three sticks, 17-17, 13-13 – Park levelling after falling behind.

Section 4 high-fliers Red Lion A Old Marston made hard work of a clash with bottom side Green Road Club B, who were a player short.

Lion went ahead on three sticks after tying 12-12, before going on to win 16-9, 17-14 for maximum points.

Blackbird went top on dolls scored with a 19-16, 16-15, 22-13 victory at home to Three Horseshoes, James Dineen and Dave Simms top-scoring with ten dolls apiece.

Eamon Hanlon (4-4-4) hit a dozen dolls for Black Swan as they came away from Rose Hill Club A with maximum points in Section 5.

After a tight start which saw them win 14-13 and then on three sticks after levelling 13-13, the visitors sealed a 3-0 triumph by taking the final leg 18-11.

Section 6 leaders Vikings Sports D sunk challengers Rose Hill Club B with a 3-0 home win.

After easily winning the first leg 15-7 they had to rely on a three stick shoot-out in the next leg after it was tied 10-10, before taking the last 11-8.

Marston BL shocked Bullnose Morris B 3-0 for only their second win of the season.

They went ahead 13-11, won the next on three sticks after tying 13-13 and sealed a maximum by winning the final leg 15-10.

Black Horse are five points clear in Section 8 after a maximum win at Red Lion A Cassington, cruising to an 11-7, 17-12, 14-5 success.

Kidlington Football clubs hopes were dashed as they crashed at home to The Cricketers Arms.

It looked good for the club men when they won the first leg 12-8 but Cricketers responded dramatically winning the next two legs 16-9, 22-16.

Steve Pieri threw well for The Cricketers with ten dolls (4-2-4).

Gladiators C and Kings Arms Kidlington fought out a very tight game in Section 9 .

The first two legs were tied 9-9, with the Glad’s winning both on three sticks.

Anchor man Malcolm Walton whipped off the doll with his final two efforts in the third leg to wrap up a 3-0 whitewash 9-8.
