BANBURY’S Kyle Ennis reached the final of the 200m at the British Championships and was delighted with his performance, writes STUART WEIR.
After finishing eighth in 21.43secs, he said: “I didn’t expect to make the final so it was a good day.”
Oxford City’s Alice Byles, in year 12 at Cherwell School, finished seventh in her heat of the 400m hurdles.
“I am really, really pleased,” the 17-year-old said.
“It was just amazing because I knew going into it that these girls were all top in the UK. It was just a privilege to be chosen to run.”
Radley’s Kathryn Woodcock was seventh in the women’s discus with a personal best of 47.45m “I wasn’t really happy with my series, but delighted with the 47-metre throw,” she said.
“I have been waiting for that for a long time.”
Clubmate Henry Tufnell was 11th in his heat of the 1,500m, but injury ended his hopes.
“It was a fantastic experience running here, but unfortunately my hamstring went in the last 150.”
Oxford City’s Gemma Bridge was disqualified from the women’s 5,000m walk.
“It was only my second race-walk and I am not really sure what I did wrong and need to speak to the judges,” she said.
