GEORGE French returned his best ever league figures of 7-24 to help Minster Lovell to an 89-run victory at Chipping Norton in OCA League Division 1.

The home side were dismissed for 91 as they failed to chase down Minster’s 180 all out, Nathan Harris and Jack Simpson both scoring 39.

Struggling Stonesfield were undone by Sam Willett’s unbeaten century, which helped second-placed Great Horwood to a 61-run home win to keep up the pressure on leaders Charlbury.

Willett struck 114 not out in Horwood’s 222-4, before Adam Armitage (3-23) and Haydon Morrison (3-37) combined to help dismiss Stonesfield for 161.

In Division 2, Wolvercote made it five successive wins courtesy of a five-wicket success at Marsh Gibbon.

Darren Jones (4-13) was the pick of the Wolvercote attack as they bowled their hosts out for 86, before going on to reach 87-5 in reply.

Chadlington’s Steve Hunt took a hat-trick to help his side to a thrilling 15-run win at home to Wootton & Boars Hill.

Dan Townsend hit 30 in Chadlington’s 127 all out, Martin Bungay taking 4-16 for the visitors.

But Rupert Townsend then claimed 6-17 and Hunt picked up 3-28 in 12 overs – including a hat-trick – to dismiss Wootton for 112.

In Division 3, Ollie Pascoe’s spectacular 120 from 79 balls helped Stanton Harcourt to an 88-run win against visitors Hanborough.

Pascoe’s knock helped Stanton to 237-9, before Arun White (3-42) and Ryan Wastie (3-44) bowled well in Hanborough’s reply to dismiss them for 149, Rob Lovick hitting 53.

Division 4 leaders Swinbrook had George Grace to thank for a five-wicket victory at Minster Lovell 2nd.

Grace, who hails from the same family as the great WG, took 4-19 to help dismiss Minster for 158, Archie Spittles hitting 62 and Jacob Mayers 52.

Grace then compiled a fine 82 not out to steer Swinbrook home at 162-5.

West Ilsley were too strong for Hailey as they cruised to a nine-wicket home win.

After bowling Hailey out for 90, the hosts raced to 93-1 as Adam Barnes hit 60 not out.

Ellie Norton was the star of the show for Charlbury 2nd, but her superb haul of 6-30 was not enough to deny Great Horwood 2nd victory in a low-scoring Division 5 affair.

Norton’s six wickets helped to dismiss the visitors for only 76, but then Gary Ridgway (5-22) and James Waddington (3-32) combined to bowl Charlbury out for a paltry 68.

Bampton kept up the pressure with a four-wicket win over visitors Kennington.

Edward Landray hit 61 to help Bampton to 122-6 after Russell King (4-34) and Ben Brown (3-36) combined to dismiss Kennington for 120.

Leaders Brill were too strong for hosts West Witney, running out six-wicket winners.

Darren Kavanagh, Andy Wynd and Ben Jackson took three wickets each as West Witney were all out for 139.

Andy Parke then hit 75 not out to lead Brill to 141-4.

Ducklington notched the biggest winning margin of the season as they thumped hosts Stonesfield by 250 runs in Division 6.

After racking up a massive 372 all out, thanks to Liam Day (130), Scott Summers (91) and George Townsend (73), Kane Lewis then claimed 4-36 and Townsend 3-23 as Stonesfield were bowled out for just 122.

Leaders Wolvercote 2nd maintained their 100 per cent record with a nine-wicket crushing of visitors Shrivenham 2nd.

Bowling Shrivenham out for 130, the target was no trouble for Wolvercote as Chris Babbs (64no) and David Gilham (43no) led them home.

Daniel Burgess, 17, hit a superb 107 as Hanborough 2nd beat visitors Minster Lovell 3rd by 33 runs in Division 7.

Burgess’s knock led Hanborough to 188 all out, before Sam Walker claimed 5-43 in reply as Minster finished on 155 all out.

Young Ashley Horne took 4-3 in four overs as Witney Swifts 2nd skittled out visitors Uffington 2nd for just 28 on their way to a comfortable nine-wicket win.

Stanton Harcourt 2nd narrowly edged out hosts Chalgrove by one run to stay top of Division 8.

They had been shot out on a tricky pitch for just 82, Mark Brown taking 4-29, but Scott Hambridge’s 6-26 helped them to victory as Chalgrove fell agonisingly short on 81.

Clive Plant took five wickets and then top-scored for Hook Norton 2nd in their six-wicket Division 9 win at home to Charlbury 3rd.

Plant claimed 5-38 to help dismiss the visitors for 101, before hitting 36 not out to lead Hooky to 102-4.

Chesterton’s unbeaten start continued with a two-wicket win at home to Westcott.

A brutal 115 from Nick Solway helped the visitors to 222-6 in their 45 overs.

But Lee Price (54) and Jimmy Appleton (39) shone for Chesterton as they edged home at 223-8 with four balls left.
