JASON Plato believes new modifications on his Subaru will pay off when the British Touring Car Championship visits Oulton Park this weekend.

Problems with the fuel system prompted the Silverline Subaru BMR Racing team to pull out of the last round at Thruxton.

But an extensive testing session at Pembrey in Wales has lifted spirits ahead of the trip to Cheshire.

Oxford's Plato said: “All of our cars have engine upgrades for this weekend that will give us a bit more performance, and I think our chassis will go very well round there."

SEAN Walkinshaw praised his drivers after a string of positive results at Oulton Park.

Jan Jonck scored two top-five finishes and an eighth place in the fourth round of the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship for Chipping Norton-based SWR.

Teammates Thomas Maxwell and Eugene Denyssen recorded best finishes of ninth and 11th respectively.

Team owner Walkinshaw said: “It was a strong weekend and very pleasing from a performance point of view."

“With Jan racing consistently in the top five, it showed the car is good and pace-wise we were a match for the podium so that’s very positive.

“It would’ve been great to finish on the podium, it wasn’t far away, but on the whole we’ve very pleased with this weekend. “

The following round is next weekend at SWR’s home track, Silverstone.
