GOSFORD Hill School under 15s team are celebrating national glory after winning the English Schools’ FA Under 15 PlayStation Small Schools’ Trophy.

The Kidlington lads got their hands on the trophy after winning a 6-3 goalfest against Howden School, from Yorkshire, at Reading’s Madejski Stadium.

Gosford took the lead after ten minutes after Jonah Clarke teed up Piers Walton, who netted off the inside of the post.

Roles were reversed five minutes later as Walton turned provider, looping the ball to the onrushing Clarke, who easily finished into an empty net.

After a great save by Howden keeper Josh Render from the impressive Walton, Jamie Hudson bundled in to make it 3-0.

In the final minute of the half, Harley Firkin finished well, after a one-two with Joey Cowlishaw, to fire Gosford a commanding 4-0 lead.

Two quick goals from Howden’s Cameron Taylor sent nerves jangling among Gosford’s supporters, making it 4-2 with 25 minutes to play.

After riding out the storm, Gosford made the game safe as Clarke curled home a free-kick before completing his hat-trick with an exquisite lob.

Toms Vickops scored a late goal for Howden, but it was Gosford who became national champions.
